Celebrate International Raw Food Day this Friday (2 Recipes)
This Friday, July 11, is International Raw Food Day! We're celebrating with one of our all-time favorite raw food recipes plus, this delicious raw chocolate number! Give some raw food recipes a go and feel the difference, see the difference and live the difference!
•2 ½ cups of chopped fresh ripe tomatoes
•12 sun-dried tomatoes, soaked in water to rehydrate, roughly chopped
•½ cup cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil
•3 cloves of garlic, peeled
•3 fresh dates, pitted
•2 tbsps fresh basil or parsley
•½ tsp cayenne pepper
•1 tsp unrefined sea salt
•A spiralizer or just a vegetable peeler
•A blender or food processor
•Spiralize the zucchini and place in a large serving bowl
•Blend or process the remaining ingredients until smooth
•Pour sauce over the zucchini ‘spaghetti’!
Sea Salt is our friend, containing more than 80 minerals, including calcium and iodine. The sodium in unrefined salt is necessary for brain function and for balancing our pH. However, getting sodium from table salt or sodium found in canned, preserved and highly processed foods is damaging as it lacks a complete array of minerals, having been stripped and chemically bleached.
Use the sauce over wilted spinach and crumble feta and activated pine nuts over the top
Raw Vegan Chocolate Smoothie
If you're a chocolate lover, you're going to make this one over and over. This recipe is ready in minutes and is 100% raw and vegan. On top of that, it's a real antioxidant-powerhouse (thanks to the spices, avocado, and cacao). Drink your way to a delicious, youthful glow and health!
Half ripe avocado
Half cup young coconut flesh (or coconut milk)
Half cup coconut water (add more to adjust consistency)
1 small banana
2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
1 pinch cinnamon
1 pinch vanilla powder
2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
Garnish with pieces of organic 85% dark chocolate (or make your own here) and goji berries
Blend all your ingredients in your high speed blender.
Pour your smoothie into a nice glass and garnish with some goji berries and dark chocolate chunks.
