Thanksgiving Menu Planning: 5 Delicious Desserts

Rachel Morrow RACHEL MORROW

What’s my favorite part about a holiday table? The desserts, without a doubt. Somehow, despite all the goodness I’ve filled up on throughout the day, I always find room for dessert. I find it just rounds out the day quite nicely. But making your own Thanksgiving desserts isn’t always easy or foolproof; often it’s a lot of trial and error (something I have learned over the years). That’s why I wanted to share our Thanksgiving menu planning guide to delicious desserts. I promise they won’t disappoint.

Pumpkin Pie with Homemade Gluten-Free Pastry

1. Pumpkin Pie with Homemade Gluten-Free Pastry

We’re all traditionalists when it comes to the all mighty pumpkin pie, and we mean no disrespect to Ms. Martha or your Mom. A slightly healthier alternative to the pure, "All-Purpose" flour crust that we normally find holding in our favorite pumpkin filling is a lighter, kinder on the stomach alternative - and it's gluten-free. We sacrifice none of the flaky texture but instead enhance the fiber content and enrich the depth of flavor.

Pumpkin Pie Spice Parfait

2. Pumpkin Pie Spice Parfait

You won’t have to give up tradition and holiday favorites when choosing a healthy lifestyle. This parfait has the same delicious flavors as the pumpkin pie your grandma used to make, just missing the sugar crash! And you will love the spiced granola!

Pumpkin-Spiced Vegan Truffles

3. Pumpkin-Spiced Vegan Truffles

These pumpkin spiced vegan truffles are the ultimate after-dinner snack. They’re packed with protein, healthy fats, and all the pumpkin spice you secretly desire without the refined sugar that’s usually in tow.

Happy Tummy Crumble

4. Happy Tummy Crumble

There are few things in life as delicious and comforting as the humble apple crumble! For anyone watching their sugar and gluten intake, like we are, then we have the recipe for you! Not only does it not have sugar or gluten, but your tummy is also going to love it.

Turmeric Spiced Banana Cake

5. Turmeric Spiced Banana Cake

There are few things more wholesome and delicious than a warm slice of fluffy banana cake, but this recipe takes banana cake and gives it a serious health-boosting upgrade; turmeric! The scientific research about the health benefits of turmeric, notably its powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, is nothing short of incredible.
